Round the World Skills Swap! A Networking Event!
an event of Import/Export, a solo exhibition by Chanika Svetvilas
at Taller Boricua, 1680 Lexington Ave, between 105 & 106 St.
Do you have an untapped skill that you would like to share? At Round the World you will have the opportunity to exchange 1-3 skills or services for another through a networking event from 6-9 pm. Plan to offer 1-3 skills and think of what kind you’re looking for, and hopefully you’ll find it. Guests are given tags to wear with the name of the skill they would like to represent. 3 cards with the skill or service will be given to exchange with others during the evening.
Please consider if the skill you would like to offer is specific or general. For instance, if you sew, are you offering to teach the skill or hem or tailor one piece of clothing?
I have been involved in several work exchanges including the shared labor for the installation of Import/Export. Some of the work exchanges included the following. Can you match what service I provided with what I received in return?
• Service • Received
• Babysat • Constructed picket fence for exhibit
• Stained wooden doors • Health insurance
• Cooked • Yoga classes
• Sanded furniture • Cut material for installation
• Read books to children • Use of studio space
• Laundry/Cleaning • Meals
RSVP recommended. Please RSVP to email@example.com.
Light refreshments provided.
Galleries are free and will be open to the public during the event. For more information on the exhibits, visit www.tallerboricua.org
