- Venue: Online event
Co-sponsored by the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU, LaborArts, and the NYU Tamiment Library and Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives.
This event honors the publication of Wai Wah Chan’s Chinatown Heroes and draws a historical bridge between the 1982 Garment Workers Strike and 1990s Chinatown. May Chen, retired ILGWU leader and translator of the book, leads a discussion about the resonance of the strike in the decades that followed. A film by Betty Yu will be screened. Katie Quan, Muzaffar Chisti, Edgar Romney, Silvia Chan, and Mei Lum will also be featured.
