“Cultural Appropriation, Cultural Authenticity and the Diasporic South Asian/Australian Experience(s) of Multiculturalism”: Lauren Nilsson-Siu

Professor Lauren Nilsson-Siu delivers a lecture entitled, “Cultural Appropriation, Cultural Authenticity and the Diasporic South Asian/Australian Experience(s) of Multiculturalism.” Nilsson-Siu (NYU Sydney) specializes in critical race and ethnic studies. Her research broadly explores intersections of race, diaspora, affect and Australian multiculturalism. Her upcoming monograph Reclaiming the Bindi: Cultural Appropriation, Indo Chic, and the South Asian Diaspora is slated for release with Illinois University Press in 2027. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A and discussion.
