Join us in New York City for Hui Mo‘olelo | Lāhainā Think Space at NYU, a special two-part gathering presented by Maui Public Art Corps & the County of Maui Public Art Program in partnership with the NYU Hawaiʻi Club and campus partners. This program brings the community-centered storytelling and listening process of Hui Mo‘olelo: Lāhainā to a national audience, exploring how story, memory, place, and collective care inform the creation of meaningful memorials.

At 11:00 a.m., the day will begin with a panel discussion, Listening Across Oceans: Story, Memory, and the Making of Memorials, bringing together voices from Hawaiʻi and beyond to discuss community-led approaches to remembrance.

We will reconvene at 6:00 p.m. for a film and performance showcase featuring stories and creative works emerging from the Hui Mo‘olelo process, and a special performance by Leilani Patao.

NYU campus access guidelines: This is an in-person event, open to the public. Registration is required. Non-NYU guests may be asked to present a government-issued photo ID. NYU guests must present their NYU ID.

Accessibility note: This venue has an elevator and is accessible for wheelchair users. There are single-stall, all gender restrooms and a lactation room available. If you have any access needs, please email apa.rsvp@nyu.edu.
