Presented by the NYU Center for Multicultural Education and Programs, Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU, and NYU Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Student Center.

Kumu Hina is a powerful feature documentary by Emmy Award-winning producers Dean Hamer and Joe Wilson of Qwaves, in association with Pacific Islanders in Communications & ITVS. It follows the life of Hina Wong-Kaul, a Native Hawaiian who is both a proud and confident māhū, or transgender woman, and an honored and respected kumu, or teacher, cultural practitioner, and community leader. The screening will be followed by an appearance and talk-back with Hina Wong-Kalu.

This program will take place at NYU Kimmel Center for University Life, Room 406.
