Presented by the New York City Asian American Student Conference. Co-sponsored by the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU, Coalition for Asian American Children+Families, NYU Center for the Study of Asian American Health, and Insomnia Cookies.
The 2019 New York City Asian American Student Conference will revisit the roots of the term “Asian American.” How can students today learn from the student activists who coined the term “Asian American” in the 1960s as a statement of solidarity, and a commitment to unite in the name of social justice?
Attendees are invited to think about the conference thematic “collision,” within and amongst Asian American experiences as an active process of developing identity, expressing oneself, and exchanging narratives. Throughout the day’s workshops and panels, conference organizers seek to create a more nuanced understanding of Asian American identity.
Note on accessibility: This venue has an elevator and is accessible for wheelchair users. There is an all gender, single-stall restroom on the second floor.
