THE CONFERENCE:
This interdisciplinary conference co-presented by A/P/A Institute and the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis will explore how leaders of certain countries consciously manipulate the public by the deliberate arousal of paranoid anxiety through citing ominous threats to their well-being. These means often lead to war, and often through the manipulative use of the media. An examination of relevant socio-political, media, and psychanalytic perspectives will aim to shed light on the interaction between politics and paranoia, and address ways of countering this type of destructive manipulation.
