Apparition (Aparisyon) is a psychological drama based in the 1970s Philippines, amidst the Marcos regime. The film follows the lives of the sisters of the Adoration Monastery in the rural town of Rizal. Sister Lourdes (Jodi Sta. Maria), a newcomer to the convent attends political rallies with Sister Remy (Mylene Dizon), a young nun suffering from a crisis of faith after her brother’s disappearance. Aparisyon has won numerous awards and nominations including the NETPAC Award at the 2012 Hawaii International Film Festival, the 2012 Deauville Film Festival Audience Award, and the 8th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival Best New Breed. It currently has a home on the Criterion Channel and is considered a modern Filipino Film classic.
