“Vincent Who?” examines the impact of the 1982 Vincent Chin case on the Asian American community, where two out-of-work autoworkers Ronald Ebens and Michael Nitz were convicted of second-degree murder and released on three years probation and a $3,000 fine after killing Chin with a baseball bat and reportedly calling him a “Jap.” The film underlines the new generation of young Asian Americans who were born after the case had taken place and the importance of remembering Vincent Chin and the galvanizing of the Asian American community behind the case. The film screening will be followed by a discussion with producer Curtis Chin on how the film’s subject relates to hate crime issues we currently face today.
Co-Sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Education & Programs, The New School, and the Museum of Chinese in America.
