View full exhibition site

Eugenia Sumiye Okoshi and George Mukai both came to New York in the 1950s to pursue their careers as artists. Okoshi was raised outside Tokyo and Mukai outside San Diego. Both lived through WWII and its aftermath before meeting in New York. Wars in the Pacific and in Asia shape the lives of Asian/Pacific Americans in various ways. Together, the experiences, stories, and work of Okoshi and Mukai illustrate the common connections and the knowledge embodied in the Asian/Pacific American experience.
