Kiana Paclibon (MA Student, NYU GSAS ‘24) plans to eat her way through the vibrant immigrant neighborhoods of Buenos Aires for “Finding Asia in Argentina: Intersections of Food and Identity among Asian Argentines.” Paclibon’s thesis project seeks to tell the oral and visual story of East Asian Argentines expressing and connecting with their cultural heritages in kitchens and dining tables (at home and in restaurants)—ultimately cultivating community through flavors sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter, sometimes savory, sometimes sour, and occasionally a fusion of all the above.
沈天扬 Andre Shen (MFA student, NYU Tisch School of the Arts) will continue to complete the short film, 月亮总在照顾大地 If I Make it to the Morning. Set on September 27, 2015, during the mid-autumn festival, 子亦 is on an American university tour trip with her mom 蓓. Portraying the dynamic and cultural gap between two generations, this film is about belonging, and how we define ourselves and home.
